Convenient Policy Management
The Proofpoint Messaging Security Console™ provides a centralized, 100% web-based administration interface to Proofpoint's unified policy management framework, ensuring consisted application of corporate messaging policies. The Console makes it easy to monitor and control your messaging infrastructure and define messaging policies. As optional Proofpoint modules (such as Digital Asset Security) are added to your deployment, the same convenient interface is used for policy management.

In cluster deployments of multiple Proofpoint Protection Servers or Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateways, the entire environment can be managed from the master Messaging Security Console. Features include easy backup and restore of saved configurations, rollbacks to previous versions and continuous auditing to track any administrative changes.

By providing centralized administration for all messaging protection applications, Proofpoint significantly reduces the ongoing operational costs of large, complex messaging deployments.

More than 40 Publishable, "Active" Reports
The Console also provides access to more than 40 realtime, graphical reports and alerts that give complete visibility into the state of your enterprise messaging system. Reports can be easily emailed or posted as HTML/XML. Proofpoint's "active" reports deliver key information but also allow administrators to take immediate action (e.g., simply click a link to block an abusive sender). All operational data is stored in both detailed log files and in summary form in the reporting database. Reports include:
  • Attack Reports: Total Spam, Top Spamming Hosts, Top Spam Recipients, Total or Top 10 Viruses, Policy Violations and more

  • Frequency Reports: Total Message Volume, Average Message Size, Most Frequent Senders, Most Frequent Recipients, and more

  • System Usage Reports: Quarantine Size, Message Processing Time, and more

Additional report features include:
  • Report Scheduling: Configure the time, day and frequency of published reports to best suit your schedule.

  • Report Favorites: Configure and save favorite reports, bookmarking the information you need most.

  • Active Reports: Many reports not only deliver key information but allow you to take immediate action. If you find a certain spammer targeting your organization via a report simply click a link to block that sender!

Meet End User Needs with Personalized Spam Detection
What's spam to one user may not be spam to another. Proofpoint's personalized spam blocking features give users control over their inboxes once more with features including:
  • End-user Safe Lists: Users can maintain their own list of approved senders so that information from trusted sources is always received. Administrators can override these settings.

  • End-user Blocked Lists: Users can maintain their own list of blocked senders so that information from distrusted sources is always blocked. As with end-user safe lists, administrators can override these settings. (Click the image below for an example.)



  • End-user Quarantine: On a scheduled basis, you may choose to automatically distribute a summary of quarantined email to all users or to a select group of users. This proactive notification allows users to review their quarantined email, release individual messages in the quarantine, or add senders to their personalized safe lists.   • Executive Delegation Mode: For the busy executive, administrative assistants can act on their behalf with delegation features similar to those in popular email packages such as Microsoft Outlook.

Powerful Group Policy Support The Proofpoint Messaging Security Console also makes it easy to define and enforce different policies for different groups of end users. This feature is useful for deployments where different groups of users require different strengths of spam blocking, such as groups that need spam tagged and forwarded rather than quarantined.

Administrators can optionally allow end users to choose from a set of group preferences. Full integration with LDAP and Active Directory greatly simplifies and streamlines ongoing group maintenance.
